Seasons of Life
I sit here watching the gate, waiting for one of my family members to bring cow calf pairs to take to pasture. I am reminded about the different seasons of my life. Right now, I am in one of my busier seasons (planting is done, hauling cows and calves to pasture, haying to start and kids on summer break). My season is extremely busy right now with my husband, kids and I outside most of the day which means the household stuff may not get done regularly (dishes get done every other day and laundry is washing what is needed for the next day’s work…the rest will get washed when…

Completing a Self-help Book Purge
letting go of finding the answers that don’t always exist in the way we think. I recently created a list of projects that I wanted to complete in the short summer months that we have. I always have the usual items like painting projects, cleaning out something and building a project or two. One project was to clean out and organize my books. I love to read and have a book in my hands. I am not an online reader or tablet reader when it comes to books. I started with one of the easier projects of cleaning out my books and I came to a realization that I didn’t…

A Tribute for Father’s Day
Father’s play an important role in their family. Fathers are the head of the household. They provide stability, love, an example, and lead the family. God our Father has an amazing amount of love for each one of us. His love is…

A Devotional for the Anxious Heart: 1 Peter 5:6-7
Scripture: “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him because he cares for you.” (ESV) Thought: Our pride, or refusal to depend on God and be subject to him) often is the root of my anxiety. Pride keeps us captive to worry, anxiety, and dread because we are constantly trying to be “enough”. We are not enough on our own—never have been, never will be. Only through the power of the Holy Spirit are we made whole, new creations in Christ. Application: What do you do with worry? Are you humble enough to…

A Devotional for the Anxious Heart: Proverbs 3:5-6
Scripture: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on you own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” (ESV) Thought: How often have you sought understanding through the world or your feelings? Is all your anxiety connected to a real and present danger? Often the condition of heart reflects the insecurities we take on from the expectations of the world, the flesh, and the devil. When we act upon these fears, we often make our situation even more difficult. We add fuel to the fire, rather than cooling the flames with the truth of God’s love and guidance. …
