Advent Wreath Candle of Hope

I am writing this as we are entering into the first part of December. We are anticipating our first winter weather storm of the year with a few inches of snow and strong, blustery winds. Sounds dismal to many and yet, I always embrace this wintery weather with an opportunity to rest and relax.

During Advent, we anticipate celebrating Jesus’ birth on Christmas but we also are reminded of the coming of Christ’s return. The hope of advent is also the promise that Christ will return. It is a time to reflect on the future and all that it will bring.

Isaiah 9:2, 6-7 reads “the people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone. ….For us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

Here we read we have the hope and assurance that there is no end from this time forth and forevermore. God’s hope is everywhere we just have to look around and be reminded. It is in weather, it is our moments with our family, it is in the many things he provides for us and there is always hope found in his word.

As you and your family celebrate this holiday season, take time to focus on the hope that we have. It will bring you a new sense of positivity this holiday season. It will bring a deepness to your holiday that you have been missing.
