Christmas Faith Traditions

I have many fond memories of Christmas growing up. There were all the decorations and getting to help my mom set them all out, the Christmas program at church, getting together with both my mom’s family as well as my dad’s family, and the holiday baking. The one tradition that I remember well was going to Christmas Eve church service and getting to sing all those traditional Christmas songs (What Child is This, Silent Night, O Little Town of Bethlehem) to name a few. We did have presents which I remember but to me, that’s not what sticks out in my mind. My parents did a great job in their Christmas faith traditions in instilling what the true meaning of Christmas is all about which is the celebration of the birth of Jesus.

I have two children of my own and am trying to start and keep Christmas traditions for my own family. We have a little tree we put up each year that the kids decorate and other decorations we have they set out. The most important Christmas decoration we have in our house is our nativity set. We have three, the big set goes in the living room and each of the girls has a small one they put in their bedroom. It is a great way to remind us what Christmas should be all about.

I hope that this Christmas brings you all hope, love, peace, and joy and that in the midst of your Christmas traditions you keep faith centered.
