Faith on Fire: Serving

As we continue to explore our Faith on Fire series, we want to take a look at serving. Serving is so broad and can be done in so many ways. I am by nature a server to and of many times to a point of stretching my rope so very thin. I listen, I donate, I serve, I sit on committees and share my talents. I know that God calls us to serve and serving brings me joy.

What does serving look like? 1 Peter 4:10 reads “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace…” The Bible clearly lets us know in that passage that serving is done in different ways.

What are your talents? Are you a good listener? Are you excellent at chairing a committee? Do you have a craft that you can share? Can you lead a Bible Study or teach Sunday School? Do you enjoy shoveling snow or mowing grass? Can you share your musical talent?

Those are just some of the ways we can serve. God has gifted each of us with not just one talent, but many. Some ways of serving may seem small, but ultimately whether big or small God calls us to serve those that enter our lives.

We pray that you look at the many ways you serve. We also encourage you to serve in ways that you wouldn’t think of or in ways that are not what you normally do. You may just find a new way to serve that brings you even greater joy.
