Book Review: “Unglued” by Lysa Terkeurst

Unglued–A book that gives you a different perspective on handling life’s interruptions. It talks about our raw emotions and how we deal with them. Lysa helps us define who we are: an exploder that blames others, an exploder that shames herself, a stuffer that builds barriers, or a stuffer that collects retaliation rocks (comments). As you read the book you start to figure out which of those categories you most fit in or whether it’s a combination of a couple of them. God gave us these emotions so we can enjoy life and we sometimes need to think about them before we react. We also need to take time to renew ourselves so we don’t react negatively in situations big or small.  Renewing ourselves or taking a step back and looking at the situation may give us a new perspective and help us reign in those raw emotions we have.

As much as our emotions can sometimes not be the best of our intention, Lysa reminds us in this book that God gives us abundant grace. God is continually working in us to mold us and shape us to be able to extend his grace from us through our emotions.

Lysa states in the book “I can face things that are out of my control and not act out of control.”

If we take the time to fix our minds on God we can use our emotions to gracefully handle situations good and bad.
