Is Scouring the Net the Answer?

I love and am amazed at the internet, FaceBook, Instagram, and Pinterest. However, I don’t and never will do all the endless options of social media. I can’t keep up with the latest trend. Should I be on Snapchat? Is Twitter the right fit for me? Do I know what Tumblr even is?

We live in a society that seems to not be able to live without the internet, instant access to social media, and a wealth of sources for information that I can’t even name. I find myself always going to the net to find information on our latest family’s health dilemma, how I should be marketing my business, and how to conquer the latest trial of parenting.

I always find more information that I can filter through and it leads me down yet another rabbit trail. Then I realize I am never getting the whole story. Information on any of these platforms is just snippets of what that person truly experiences or items that contribute to the article or post. 

The Bible is filled with verses that direct us back to how to find our answers and it doesn’t say to go to the internet. The following verses give us a reminder of where to go when we need answers and help:

James 1:5–”If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

Romans 12:2–”Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Matthew 6:34–”Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

That says it all–when lacking answers go to God, do not let this world be your will but that which is of God, and do not worry about tomorrow. God has it all for us! Instead of letting this world solve our troubles, go to scripture. God has addressed every trouble that we will have here on earth in the Bible. There is a verse, or a hundred verses, that will solve our troubles!
