Rejoice…for he is risen!

Easter Family Devotional

Scripture Verses

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has pass away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christs from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,….” 1 Peter 1:3

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4

Devotional Thought

Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. It is such a time of renewal in life. We see the grass turning green, the birds return, we anticipate planting and our bodies again come to life again from our winter slow down.

God has timed everything in his world to perfection although we don’t always see it. Easter arrives at the renewing time of year as well. We spend time preparing and getting a spring back in our step throughout Lent and Easter Sunday arrives with a sense of renewal as just as Christ’s death and resurrection allow us to be born again.

As we read scripture, we know that our reason to rejoice is that we are renewed in Christ through his death and resurrection. We have that living hope each and every day when we walk with Christ. It is the greatest gift for those that choose to follow.

“Dear God…we come to you today with thanks for sending your one and only Son. That through his death and resurrection, we have living hope. We ask that you walk with us each day. Let us see the hope each day in our surroundings and all we do. We rejoice that he is with us always. In your name we pray.” Amen

Action Point

I encourage you to take a moment this Easter to remind yourself that he is present each and every day. So when the days are tough and seem to have no end or are full of things you think you can’t handle, remember the death and resurrection knowing the living hope we each have. Remember the renewal and rejoicing that Easter brings.
