December Devotional–The Book of Luke

The Book of Luke

“But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.” Luke 11:28

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need.” Luke 12:31

It is important to spend time in the word every day. Some days are busy and just more challenging to get that accomplished, but that doesn’t mean on those busier days we can’t just spend more time in prayer. As we are in the beginning of December it is sometimes so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. This is the time of year I like to slow down and remember the reason for the season. Just like Luke 12:31 says if we seek God, we will have everything we need. He is a just God and will provide for us.

I have seen things that say to start on December 1st and go through December 24th and read one chapter of the book of Luke. When we are finished on the 24th we will have the read the accounts of Jesus and we will know the who and why we celebrate. This has been on my to-do list for a few years, but this year I will take this challenge on headfirst and accomplish it. I challenge each and every one of you to take this on with me. It will be a great to know at the end the who he is and the why better.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Grant us the time to gather and read your word and ponder over it this Christmas season. Help us to remember that Christmas begins with Christ. As we read your word daily may we get to know you better and continue to read the word daily not just at Christmas time but throughout the year.

In your name we pray, Amen

Comment below and let us know who is going to do the challenge and read the book of Luke throughout December with us.
