Prayer or a Conversation with God?

How often have you started to pray and then paused or just stopped altogether because you weren’t sure how to pray? You didn’t want to sound silly or maybe we think we need to have these fancy prayers that are well thought out and are almost like they are prewritten. We are trying to pray to God, and we certainly don’t want to sound silly. The thing is, God already knows us inside and out. He has seen us at our best and at our worst.

I have been trying to think of prayer more as having a conversation with God.  The Bible says we should pray without ceasing and how comforting it is to know that he is always there ready for us to start that conversation (prayer) with him.

Since I try to view praying as having a conversation with God, it has been easier for me to pray. It doesn’t have to be fancy or well-written out beforehand, and we just need to come to God as we are and start having that conversation with him. I ask you to share with us your thoughts and ideas as to how you pray.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I want to thank you for always being there with an open ear, ready to hear our prayers. Wherever we are at this moment, I pray that you will help guide us on this life journey. Thank you for always having the line open so we can pray whenever. In your name, we pray. Amen.
