“What’s on tv ma?” or “What’s on tv dad?” is a common question in the evening at our house. If time allows in the evening we usually like to watch a tv show with the kids before bedtime. We typically have more time during the winter months when it is colder outside and we are not farming and calving.
The content of tv has drastically changed over the years. The kind of tv shows that we watched growing up are different than what our kids watch today. The type of tv has also evolved from black and white tv to colored tv and from cable to smart tv. I have had the opportunity to have cable in the past and now a smart tv. For my family, we like watching the good old classic tv shows. We have had the privilege to watch entire seasons of tv shows from beginning to end minus a few shows that may not be available on Amazon Prime.
Here are a few of the classic tv series we have watched with our kids:
The Andy Griffith Show Dick Van Dyke
Denace the Menace (tv series) The Brady Bunch
Green Acres The Dukes of Hazard
There are benefits of watching these classics which include:
-Content is relatively safe for the whole family
-The stories teach you about good morals and values
-Everyone on the shows respect each other
-These shows bring you back to a time when life was simpler and not as chaotic
I encourage you all to go back to the good old days when life was a lot less busy, supper was on the table every night at the same time and they all sat around the table to eat and enjoy a show. Also, a time where conversation happened and there were no cell phones.
What are your favorite tv classics? Have you watched all the seasons? Please comment below and let us know. We would love to hear from you.
