Handling Life’s Everyday Interruptions

We all lead busy lives, some busier than others. Life would be easy if everything went smoothly from day to day, but we know too well that sometimes life interrupts our best-laid plans. Those interruptions can be getting a flat tire, a household family member getting sick, or weather (ex. rain)–the list is endless. How we handle those interruptions, that’s what matters.

Here are a few things to do when life interruptions happen:

  • Pray. Ask God to help you roll with the punches.
  • Change your perspective. Instead of being upset, think of it as an opportunity. (Ex. Getting a flat tire and having to wait gives us extra time. Time to make a phone call, grab a book and read a few pages, listen to the radio, or take a rest.)
  • Realize there are going to be interruptions in everyday life, so don’t try to plan your day to the tee. Just enjoy life and roll with it.

Some of life’s interruptions are more positive. Those include getting a pay raise or promotion, a phone call from a friend or relative, or a visitor stopping by, just to name a few. These kinds of interruptions can be handled with joy and enthusiasm.

We all know that everyday life has interruptions, however, we have a choice in how we choose to deal with them. Remember, as the saying goes, “When life gives you lemons make lemonade.”

We would love to hear how you deal with life’s  interruptions. Comment and let us know!
